Dorval
This history of Dorval dates back more than 300 years to 1667 when Sulpician priests established a mission on the outskirts of what was then Ville-Marie. The railway which came in 1855 was instrumental in attracting many wealthier families in search of a summer refuge close to their downtown residences. Dorval, although the largest surface area on the West Island, is among the least densely populated. The numerous parks, green spaces, and elaborate recreational facilities as well as a community life that is second to none, provides resident with an enviable environment in which to live. Besides the complete range of services and activities that provides an outstanding quality of life, it also has a diverse economy of commercial and industrial establishments, dominant of course is the Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau International Airport that gives Dorval a definite edge in terms of economic development.
